What We Do
Neighbors Caring About Neighbors (NCAN) is dedicated to supporting underserved members of our community. We continue to provide valuable services such as stocking Blessing Boxes with food, clothing, and diapers, assisting with home repairs, and delivering food boxes to the elderly and physically challenged.
We are also pleased to announce the expansion of our mission via the Hope Center, where we’ll offer classes and additional programs to enrich the lives of individuals and families.

Who We Are
NCAN (Neighbors Caring About Neighbors) was established as a 501(c)(3) in 2017 however, the work of this organization spans more than a decade. Our dedicated leaders and volunteers combine a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach with a serving heart.
How We Care
- Partner with local organizations such as Helping Hands Food Bank and other organizations
- Partner with schools to respond to specific needs of individual children in the way of clothing
- Hold volunteer and donation drives with a focus on the retiree population
Where We Serve
Our neighbors live in Hancock County, one of the poorest counties in the state of Georgia. The County has a large population of elderly citizens who do not have internet access or know how to use the computers. We hope to reach the many individuals living in poverty or who would benefit from our educational initiatives.
- 87% of the children in the county receive SNAP and public assistance income
- 100% of children in public school qualify for free lunch
- 31% illiteracy rate
- 24% of the population is over 65 years old
- Unemployment rate is 5.5% compared to 3.0% for the state
- Median household income ($26.1K) is half the state rate
